In English, we have finished Hana's Suitcase and have been learning about Japanese poetry, Haiku and Tanka.
In class, we have written our own Tanka and Haiku.
We learned that these poems have a structure to be followed. Haiku poems are verses that are three lines, the first line has five syllables, the second line has seven syllables and the third line has five syllables.
As for Tanka, these poems are composed of five lines, the first line is five syllables, the second line is seven syllables, the third line is five syllables, the fourth and fifth line are both seven syllables.
